Hello!
I want Windows 2000 Pro to use the user accounts that I have on my Netware server, I dont want any local accounts. I also want to get rid of the userprofiles and if one user deletes a shortcut from the desktop then the shortcut is deleted from the desktop, no mather who is logged on.

Thank You

I don't think what you asking for is possible. You must have a local account or domain account to log into windows 2000. You could set every machine to log in with the users NDS account and leave the NT local account to use Administrator account or another account you choose. This way there will be only profile and users would be able to login without it. Problem wouldn't be passwords to this local account and your NDS accounts. Could be trouble for your users.
Then again doesn't sound as though security is a concern of yours and if that is true I would set all these local account to something that your users will remember easily and be sure that there NDS passwords are more secure.

I'm with you.......Profiles are bad for adminstrators. Way to much trouble for what they are worth in return.

I thought client32 always created a new profile once you logged in. I remember reading it somewhere, but I've always been asked for local account when I login, which all seems fine.
How about if you installed 2k Pro for use by only a single user, where it just logs you straight in and doesn't ask usernames and passwords, then installing the client32. Not something I've ever tried though.

As dball has said you need a local account to login to W2K.

If you only have a few users then its probably best to get the users to login with their NDS credentials then to login to NT with a standard user name on each workstation.

The only way to get automatic creation and removal of profiles (and therefore local user accounts) is to use Zenworks and Client 32 together. Any queries drop me a line.
