After a power outage, Win2K-Pro now reports a user's profile corrupt. Does Win2K have a way of restoring corrupted profiles?

Not really. Presume this is a standalone or workgroup (not domain machine)? Have you looked at the profile (do you know what's corrupt - it may just be the ntuser.dat - the registry file)? You may be able to rescue personal data (eg my documents folder, outlook express folders) & the start menu & favorites (ie, copy them)

If its mostly intact, I'd just move it elsewhere & then logon as user again to create a new one - then copy back the bits you wanted to the new profile.

Hope this helps

The system is a member of our workgroup at home (telecommuters) and we have been able to copy Favorites, MyDocs, etc. but have lost all the drive letter mappings. Yes, we can re-create them, it may take hours, but there really should be an easy way to retrieve the info or a back-up file somewhere.

You need to backup the user profiles.
Drive mapping should only take a few minutes (how many have you got!) You could write a little batch file which will do mappings you want (net use command) & save that somewhere in case of problems.

The actual process of creating the mappings only takes minites if you remember where they were mapped to. The system is used for programming in Focus with many drive letters mapped to another computer with lots of sub-folders.
We also just discovered that the Outlook 2000 .pst and/or .ost files are missing for the corrupted profile. What a Monday!
