how do i find out the name of a user that has logged on to a access database
 
I think what Serbtastic [upsidedown] was trying to say was that your problem is with 2000 Server, not DNS/BIND/DHCP, as the name of this forum implies. You would probably receive more helpful answers by posting in the correct forum.

Turn on auditing for successful reads on the .mdb file. This will cause an event to be placed in the Security log for everyone who successfully accesses the file.
