User logs out but server things they didn't

I check my event logs to see when users log out log in, if there are any events from users being logged in or trying to log in conflicts with time restrictions, etc.
Anyway for about a week now the server thinks that a user is logged in when i know for a fact they log out each day. I have tried shutting the machine down and still the server thinks the user is logged in. needless to say my event logs are full b/c it thinks he is logged in all night long. Any ideas.
