Can I safely remove this spurious user?
On Googling I see it is something to do with the Media Centre / Intel Viiv
(I have already disabled this the services for this)

If it is safe to remove, how is it done? [re permissions etc] the user seems to have 'full control' more than my own user account!

Quite a bit of work will be needed I think (Vista Home premium so I am am hacking the registry), because I first need to unhide the account before I can delete it.
Pretty sure it doesn't show up in the control panel/User Accounts. But I will check this.

You may find a program like this useful. I have used it on Home Premium without any problems.

I did the registry thing and the account was already listed under specialaccounts, I changed the value to 1 (its was 0)
But the account was still not listed in user accounts.
So I created an administrator account and tried this again still not listed, is it possible this has already been partial removed.

The computer is an 'as new' recon, but I can see files listed under the IUSER_NMPR account which are dated before I bought the machine!
in here..
C:Users\IUSR_NMPR\roaming\intel\intelidh\mediaserver\db
Most of the other folders are empty

I suppose its back to the original question can I safley delete this user folder?

From my research it has either to do with the Media Center (Media Player) or Intel Vii driver, and is used to download updates to either...

You could always rename it, to test if it has adverse effects on the system, e.g. can't reinstall the Vii driver or mediaserver.exe not running correctly, before you delete the account...

to delete the account use, from CLI:

NET USER <username> /DELETE

I think that is the correct syntax...

Yes I have run AccountView on Home Premium, but it was a few months ago, and then only once at that, although it is still installed on that particular machine. I don't have access to that machine at the moment, I will check the settings tomorrow, maybe I ran it in Compatibility Mode for XP?

I have included some evidence of AccountView running on Vista Home Premium. There was no special Compatibility Mode set either.
