How Can I change the default location of the %User%\Documents + Pictures folder.

(Sorry I do not know the exact english name)

I do not want windows to suggest to me the user profil folder, but want to change this default to another location

Right click on your "My documents" folder, Select Properties and choose Move.

Wording may be slightly different if you are using a different language OS.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

vacunita, I see no such option

chipk

I was too fast. I saw the registry key and thought just changing it would work.
Today I did so, but it didn't make any difference, the default folders were still being used.
And after a reboot, the registry keys all changed back.

Right clicking on the folder and selecting properties does not give any 'move' options (I am the Admin and there are no policies preventing this)

I am using W2000 Professional SP4

What am I missing?

Huh, that should have worked. Try the method Vacunita suggested; you have to be clicking on the My Documents system folder and not be in Explorer or using a Shortcut.

To view this folder on your desktop, do this:

1. Double-click "My Computer".
2. When the "My Computer" folder appears, click the "Tools" menu and select "Options".
3. When the "Folder Options" multi-tabbed dialog box appears, select the "View" tab
4. Make sure "Show My Documents on the Desktop" is checked.
5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.

If you right-click on My Documents now and go to Properties, do you see a "Target" path that you can change?

arrggg - a little dense today!

OK. It works.

"My Computer" wasn't on the desktop, and I guess I read too fast.

Many, many thanks!!
