User cannot insert fields in design mode 1

I have a user with CR 8.5 Developer edition who seems to have developed a bug. For some reason he cannot add a field onto the grid in design mode. He could yesterday, but not today. It seems very strange to me.

Existing saved reports open up just fine, but he can't insert additional fields into them either.

I tried to re-boot his PC to no avail.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated. TIA.

There's always the possibility that the install is corrupt, and I wouldn't save anyting ove opened by it until you're certain that this isn't the case.

It may also be that something changed on the PC, such as a video driver update, which I've seen cause similar behaviors, and it's simple enough to try updating it as a test.

Unfortunately I'm leaning towards it being corrupt though.

Thanks for your response. I think it helped.

It turns out the user set up a split screen with his laptop and a second monitor. For some unknown reason, CR won't design correctly on the second screen. Your answer pointed us in the right direction.
