User buttons greyed out

I have noticed that on Version 4.2 that the user buttons on the 4620 phones are grayed out (like the extension is in use) when the user for which the button indicates is logged out. Does anyone know of a way to stop this action from happening - we do not want the extensions to appear to be in use (grayed out) just because the extension is not logged in. Thanks

makes sense to me. They are not logged in, so they are not available, so they should appear as such.

When you log out, the No User profile is logged in to the phone automatically. So what ever buttons are programmed on the No User profile is what appears on the phone. By default, no buttons are programmed on the No User profile so that is why everything appears to be greyed out.

bdelmar i think you read it wrong, he is saying that the user button which monitors a user is greyed out indicating busy, i think this is correct as they are logged out and not available.

Ahhh! Youre right Tom, So Ive read it wrong 3 times now...LOL.

In that case, the only way to show them as idle when they are logged off is to set their extension to Fwd Unconditionally to some place. This is how it is designed now in 4.2

For IP Office 4.2+ the following changes have been made to the indication of user status via BLF (busy lamp field) indicators such as a User button:

• The status shown for a logged out user without mobile twinning will depend on whether they have Forward Unconditional enabled. If they have Forward Unconditional enabled the user is shown as idle. If they do not have Forward Unconditional enabled they will show as if on DND.

• The status shown for a logged out user with mobile twinning will be as follows:

• If there are any calls alerting or in progress through the IP Office to the twinned destination, the user status is shown as alerting or in-use as appropriate. This includes the user showing as busy/in-use if they have such a call on hold and they have Busy on Held enabled.

• If the user enables DND through Mobile Call Control or one-X Mobile client, their status will show as DND.

• Calls from the IP Office direct to the user's twinned destination number rather than redirected by twinning will not change the user's status.

I agree with Tom here, the button shows when a user is not available so you don't ring it. If Avaya changed it to the way you want you would have lots of angry customers who are sick of ringing someone who isn't there. makes complete sense to me

That was my thinking, if the button shows them as available and you kept getting their voicemail that would be mega annoying.

i hadnt seen those details in bdelmars post if im honest but they also seem to be the best way for it to work, if they have forwarding enabled, you have a good chance of getting hold of them, so they show as available, if not you are gonna go straight to voicemail so show as busy.
