I am attempting to change Internet Options in IE 6.0 When I select Internet Options in Tools it gives the message "This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your system administrator." My system is a stand alone, not on a network and I am the only user. I have administrative privelege. If I set up another user account and assign admin privelege it lets me change my IE settings. Corrupt user account? Can this be repaired or just change user accounts and delete old.

The message is from group policy. Logon as the Administrator, not a member of the Administrator group, and add the original user to the Administrators group.

Start, run, lusrmgrg.msc

Double-click the Administrators group and add the user. If the user is there, remove them and add them back.
