A used 6506 w/ Supervisor 2 or a new 4507 with Supervisor IV?
The new 4507 is about $2k less and looks like it has a higher forwarding rate. Although I can upgrade the 6506 down the road for the gnarly 720 super or something.
Well, depends really, if you're just gong to need a basic switch with some beef, then the 4507 should be plenty, also look at maintenance costs, I know it costs more per year for the smartnet on a 65xx than compared to a 45xx, so if the if 45xx will do performance wise, and meet your expandibility needs, then that would be the route to go.
I have 3 4507's and they are nothing but trouble. Code is not the greatest on them, they've had 2 recalls already and so on...I'd go with the 6500 chassis. It's been around longer and is proven. Just my opinion though.

There have been recalls on the fan trays and SUP IV failover issues...just to name the important ones. It's just new technology and Cisco hasn't quite worked out the bugs yet. I'm sure it will be fine in another 6-9 months. Usually how they work.
That's the only reason I'd go with the 6000 chassis. It's proven.
