Anyone use this product?
It is a great syslog server for free. I am trying to set it up to notify me when a specific alert comes in. I know the free version won't email you, but you can have it execute a program, so I was going to have it execute a *.bat file that would netend me a message.

Has anyone had sucess in configuring this? All I can get it to do is log.

I have used the free version as well and works good. Below is a link to a download site for misc tools. I have used the ip ultra monitor 2000 program for email notification. You can set it up to perform pings on any number of ip addresses at any interval you wish and if it fails the ping it can send you an email notification. It is free and must be used with MSAgent components whcih are also free.
One should setup an internal machine to monitor private address while in the office and an outside machine to monitor external interfaces away from the office. That way if you are at home and the internet fails on the main router you will not receive an email as it cannot get out. If monitoring externally then you will now if the company looses its internet connection.

Thanks - great idea. I actually open up a ticket with Kiwicat and found out that you can only log to a database and execute a program in the licensed version. Depending on how much it is, I think it is worth it. I will check out IP Ultra Monitor too.
