I'm sure this is quite simple, but being largely unfamiliar with using AD features...

On our intranet we have several machines, upon which reside various directories/folders that contain standard files that are in turn referenced by customized programs.

In the pursuit of further automation/standardization, what I would like to do is have my VB6 program call AD and ask "On what machine and in what folder on my intranet can I find 'Standard Customer Folder 1'?". Then my business folders are independent of future network expansions/file locations that will undoubtedly occur.

Any code or specific links are greatly appreciated.

I think the windowd distributed file system, which works with active directory or stand-alone is what you are need. Mark
