My T41 laptop is with Windows XP Pro and equiped with USB2.0 ports. But recently when I pluged in any usb 2.0 devices (flash drives, external harddrives, etc), it would work fine for a few mins, and then poped up "you device can perform faster" error every a few mins. When the message poped up, the device was re-recognized. These devices all worked fine a few days ago! Could you help me to figure it out? Thank you!

Try going into your hardware manager (right-click "My Computer" --> Properties --> Hardware --> Devices)

Then expand the USB +, delete the USB entries in there for your USB devices, then reboot. It should re-recognize the hardware, and your problem will probably go away.

thank you!
I know this approach and tried a few times, didn't work. It may be some hardware problems.

You could see if using System Restore helps by restoring to a "few days ago"?

A USB 2.0 hub may stop working when you disconnect a USB 2.0 printer from your Windows XP-based computer

In the BIOS settings for your computer, load the 'Fail-Safe' default settings, and then reactivate the most frequently used options such as USB Support.
