USB Printer Problem

After installing a new Motherboard, an ASUS A7V8V-MX. I connected my Lexmark Z35 USB Printer. The motherboard has USB 2.0 ports with drivers for it installed where as the printer is USB 1. When attempting to setup printer or print it comes up with "Communication Error" even thought the system detects the printer. Could this problem be solved by buying a USB 2 cable for my printer or is there some other way to get around this?

With a lot of USB devices you should install the software first. Try removing any traces of the printer in device manager, reboot, install from CD then connect the printer.
