I am trying to install a Lexmark all-in-one (USB) on an IBM NetVista computer running Windows ME. It is a P-III 800 with 128m of ram installed. The printer was previously installed and working on this machine, but issuing error messages.
I replaced a blown power supply and the printer worked over the weekend, still issuing error messages (spool 32). I uninstalled and reinstalled the software and now the scanner does not work. All reference of the software was removed from the machine, including the registry.
The device is loaded and immediately removed from the "add printer" menu. I went thru Lexmark tech support and they said that I have a USB problem. In checking the device manager, it shows a green "?" on the USB controller. The motherboard is an American Megatrends and was made in Taiwan.
Is there a way to correct this problem or would it be easier and more cost effective to add a PCI USB card?
