I am trying to install an Aztech UM 9800 usb modem on Compaq armada m500 notebook. it recognises the device as an usb device but not as modem. On manually installing the driver also it does not work. the modem works fine on other machines and the usb port on this machine is fine since a CDROM works from it. WIN98 is the OS i think it is not Second Edition.Please advise

usb modem installation

Remove the modem from USB.
Remove all USB and modems in device mangler.
Restart, let the USB reinstall.
Run the installation from the disk.
AFTER you have completed the install, plug in the USB device (modem).
RTFM, it explains that you have to install the drivers BEFORE connecting the device. Cheers,
