USB memory stick not recognized by Win98SE SP2 1

Kingston Data Traveller 1GB USB memory stick not fully recognized by Win98SE SP2

Machine is AOpen AOpen AX59 PRO with Award Modular BIOS v4.60PGMA AX59Pro R2.33
All available Microsoft updates have been installed
The machine is used as an offline alternative to newer machines

Other unpowered USB devices are recognized & are operable
Memory Manager shows those devices

On insertion of the memory stick the New Hardware Wizard attempts to install a driver
Memory Manager does not show the device
Driver installation cannot be completed

If the machine is booted with Knoppix 4.1
The memory stick is recognized and is functional

Any suggestions to get Memory Manager to recognize the device?

u need 2 install a driver manually, see here

Perhaps Kingston would be the better choice to provide you with Win98 drivers for your Data Traveler here:

Thanks for the site link. I downloaded nusb24e.exe and ran it. It solved my problem.

The only difficulty I had was that the web page said to run the EXE and follow the instructions. There were no instructions. It just installed a lot of stuff and then said restart. After the restart everything seemed unchanged. I plugged in the Kingston USB memory stick and got the usual New hardware Found (NHF) wizard which asked me to select a source for the driver. There was no instruction as to where the driver was located.

I did a search on all hard drives for *.INF and decided to try telling NHF to look in c:\Windows\inf and from there on it was automatic.

Your help is much appreciated. I tried to use the Kingston driver download some time ago (available at that time) and talked to Kingston Tech Help and even though they no longer offered tech support for Win98 he led me thru a lot of steps and eventually said he couldn't help.
