USB dont work anymore

Yet another problem... recently on this laptop ive been using a USB camera which has been working fine, and also a USB mouse, also fine. I purchased a Sidewinder pro pad and tried it on the laptop, it didnt auto-detect it so i tried doing it via control panel, when selected sidewinder from the list and chose it, a box popped up saying "game port or game driver is missing" or something along those lines. I tried the control pad on the desktop pc and it was auto-detected and works fine. Since i tried the sidewinder none of my USB peripherals are detected at all on the laptop :/

Any ideas guys? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried plugging in a USB device and then using "Add Hardware" in Control Panel?

I found that it is possible to get PnP autodetection turned off when messing with manual USB device driver instalation. I just can't seem to figure out where it can be turned back on. Maybe "Add Hardware" will force this.
