I picked up a usb bridge cable at a garage sale ( $1.00) but no software.Done a couple of searches but so far no luck.Any one have a clue as to where it might be found.Kelly

If you plug it in between two xp machines i believe
xp installes drivers for them.

sayar2003, It didnt work for me and I would like to ba able to use it on older systems, bcastner, nothing there I could use, Thanks Kelly

Then maybe a program like laplink or simular would be of interest.

Check this for information of how it works on other os.

Be aware that different USB cables use different chips in the middle . And drivers may be vendor spesific .

You could try their drivers anyway :
W2k/XP
W98/ME

Kelly,

You are beginning to scare me. It is perfetly possible to connect two machines with USB cables intended for peripherals and lose both motherboards.

There are very few companies that make true USB networking cable devices. Please see if this link helps:
If your flea market cable does not match anything like the links I gave, abandon the project. Your really could damage your computer.

The cable has Wireteck on the center section, so far have had no luck chaseing it down ,fellow thatsold it said his kids trashed the driver disk. bcastner sorry about that, didn't mean to get you all scared.I now have 3 drivers and will try em out in the AM. Thanks fellows. I will post what happens. Kelly

Morning all. I found a set of drivers that work . It;s called USB Super Link and USB Virtual Network. I used the link between an XP tower and XP laptop ,worked like a charm, will try it this afternoon on a couple of 98 machines.
Got from driver guide.Kelly

Excellelent kelly ,
Then this solution didn't cost you to much eh..

It cost me 1 buck and some time ( which I have a lot of)And it works like a dam on 98 platforms as well. I moved a lot of data ,aprox 750 megs in a little over an hour. Great little helper. Kelly
