OK weird one here. I just upgraded this fellows machine to a P4. He has 98 Plus as the OS. Well the system will lock up on boot if I have the USB mouse plugged in and the PS2 mouse port empty. As soon as I plug in the PS2 mouse no problems. I have removed drivers etc..and have no clue what could be causing this. Any ideas?

Check CMOS and see if you have anything limiting a boot without a mouse attached. I've never seen it before but it could be possible. A lot of older machines will not let you boot without a keyboard attached and doesn't know how to search for a USB keyboard at boot up.
If you don't see anything in CMOS, try updating your firmware.

Well I searched high and low throughout the CMOS and have found nothing. I am using the Aopen AX4T board and have found 2 updates which have nothing to do with my problem. I am inclined to think it may be a Windows issue. Perhaps on boot up it is looking at the PS/2 mouse port and when nothing is present is locks up. Very strange. I have emailed Aopen to see if they have encountered this before. Any other ideas folks?
