USB and NT printing problem

I have a windows XP pro machine with a shared printer on a usb port and have been trying to get a NT workstation to connect to it for 3 days.
I know that NT does not support usb but I thought that would just be for local connections, has anybody had any success connecting to a printer this way from a NT machine ? or am I just wasting my time ?

What's the actual problem? Can you see the share from the NT machine? Have you installed the shared printer on the NT machine? If not, what happens when you try? You could try installing the printer drivers locally on the NT machine first.

(I haven't any actual experience of connecting NT to shared USB printer - just some questions/suggestions)
