I want to make one of our W2K Netfinity 4500R's a backup server. Want to join the 21st century and kick the tape habit and backup to disks. My current removeable HDD product of choice requires USB 2.0 for the interface. I assume that the USB as it comes on the 4500R is the old 1.0 as I can find no reference to any USB version in any of the hardware publications.

My question: anything to watch out for in installing a USB 2.0 card in this server? Any gotchas that someone has run across? Or just stick it in and turn it on?

TIA!

I recommend starting with IBM's ServerProven compatibility site. If it isn't there, consider having your IBM Marketing Rep submit it as a 'SPORE'. Otherwise, IBM Support cannot help you in the event you run into problems.
