url links in dreamweaver 1

We are having problems getting a url link into sites designed on Dreamweaver.
If the behaviour or the url link in properties is used neither produce a link to the site indicated when browsed on line.
Dreamweaver "help" doesn't provide a way of getting round the problem, & even when steps are followed it still doesn't link!
Using a hotspot doesn't work either !
What are we doing wrong?

How are you entering your link in DW? Are you entering "C:\.....", are you entering the full link? i.e.

http://www.whatever.com.

You could post a link to your site so someone can take a look.

It does look like we're entering the url wrong.
going from c drive, not http.
