I have five nt servers and I am going to upgrade my network to win2000. All the servers have static IP addresses and are not a part of dhcp scope. Do I need to create the srv records for them manually in the dns and if yes, then please help me on how to do that. Thanks in advance.

Hello, I was just browsing through and saw your post. I've been where you are. Don't have to worry about dns with nt 4.0 usually.
Not to worry. Your going to set up your first server as the PDC, this will create a host record for that server. As you add the other servers to the domain, it will create host records for them as well.
If you get DNS working properly, half your active directory problems are licked so take some time to make sure it's working properly.
