When you use the Upsizing Wizard to upsize an Access db to SQL, you are prompted: What SQL Server would you like to use for this database?

If you choose (local), does this create a new instance of SQL Server for your db? If not, what exactly does local mean and where is the sql db file for your upsized database? Maybe I'm not understanding the whole (local) thing.

Why make it simple and efficient when it can be complex and wonderful?

Hi!

"Local" means a version of either MS SQL Server or MSDE (Microsoft Database Engine) that is being run on the PC where you are going to upsize an Access Database.

You will not create a new version of SQL Server or MSDE; you just add a database to the server, which after the upsizing process contains all the tables and queries out of the original Access mdb.
