Hi all,

BCM200 v3.6

When on UPS (APC Smartups 1400XL) system is shutting down after 15 minutes. UPS has over 70% battery left. Trying to determine if this is an issue with the UPS sending a wrong low-battery warning. Or if the PowerChute software on the BCM is not setup properly.

I checked the setting of PowerChute on the BCM (via VNC access - Thanks for the tip!!) and it appears OK.

Anyone else ever see this issue?

Thanks,
Neal

Found it.

The BCM is setup to default to 15 mins on battery then shut down.

To change this:
Get VNC access to the desktop
Run "Powerchute Plus"
goto "Configuration" -> "Event Actions"
Select "UPS On Battery"
Uncheck "Shut Down Server". If you click "options" you will see the 900 seconds (15 minutes).
After unchecking this, you should goto "Low Battery Condition", click OPTIONS next to "Shut Down Server" and increase it to 5 mins from 2. (allows enough time to properly shut down the BCM)

This will get the most run time out of the UPS.

Hope this helps someone else.

Neal

BTW, forgot to mention, you also need to uncheck "Run Command" from the "On Battery" event. This runs the Nortel Shutdown script, which you only want to run when the low battery alarm comes on.
