Hi Guys,

I need your help with this pretty badly.

I am using Microsoft Server 2003 and all my computers are linked to the server. Everything is working fine. But when I try to upload a file in a web page or send an email with attachment(7kb) in outlook it doesn't work. Error I get on outlook is lost connection to server and on the web page it takes around 5 minutes and then just displays page cannot be found.

I thought something wrong with the internet connection but I checked with provider and he said that they have no limit. My friend tries the same attachment and web page in his computer it all works fine.

Any suggestions.

Dave

Need more info here.
all my computers are linked to the server
Do you mean that you have a domain and the clients are domain members?

when I try to upload a file in a web page
Please explain. Is this an internal web site or external?

or send an email with attachment(7kb) in outlook
Again please elaborate. Do you have Exchange? What version? Are you sending internally or externally. Does the message reach the destination without an attachment? What is the file type of the attachment?

I thought something wrong with the internet connection
Do you have a firewall? What kind. What ports are opened on it?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark

Q. Do you mean that you have a domain and the clients are domain members?

A. This is just a local server. Which is used in our shop and it was set up by an external company to run their POS system. Router is connected to the server and the computers are networked from the server. I have facilities to connect from home and check my POS system.

Q. Please explain. Is this an internal web site or external?

A. For example I create a new email in hotmail and add a attachment. When I click on browse and select the file and then click on attachment. it keeps running and then it fails.

Q. Again please elaborate. Do you have Exchange? What version? Are you sending internally or externally. Does the message reach the destination without an attachment? What is the file type of the attachment?

A. I am using outlook express to send email. When I attach a file and try sending it fails. Its just a POP3 account. I am trying to send the email to myself and it doesn't work. Its just a text file and size is 7kb.

Q. Do you have a firewall? What kind. What ports are opened on it?

A. I am not sure we have a firewall. But I think the normal windows firewall is working.

Are you running Hotmail from the server or a workstation? If Workstation, what OS? Is it up to date in patches?

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
