Hello all-

I'm happy to say that I just received my memory upgrade kit and will be upgrading my WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE very soon. My question is this:

Do I need to perform some type of shutdown first before I pull out the Sup engine? Can I just remove it with the Core 6509 being up and running?

Any support would be most appreciative and thanks in advance!

Nope just power it down before pulling the card and make sure to use static straps when removing and installing the memory.

Hi vipergg,

Whats the best way to power it down.. I'm looking at the back of the unit (the side where the blades can be pulled out. sorry for the novice question but don't see a power off toggle switch, just the power cables.

thx for any support.

Should be a rotary type switch right down on both power supplies , just rotate them towards the left to turn off .
