Hi all,

Here is my situation.

Server #1 (NT4) - Backup Exec 9.0
Server #2 (Win2K) - Backup Exec 9.0
Server #3 (Win2K) - Backup Exec 9.1

Servers #1 & #2 are my current servers. Server #2 has my tape drive. Server #1 has my data. Server #1 has a license for the Remote agent.

I'm preparing to move all my data from Server #1 to Server #3. I tried to setup a job on Server #3 to backup the data on Server #1 and then restore to #3. I get an error that says the license key for the Remote Agent on Server #1 is either not installed or old or incompatible. I know that Remote Agent works because Server #2 backups up Server #1 every night.

Am I forced to upgrade Server #1 in order to do this? Thanks in advance.

I understand its a free upgrade. Server #1 that is running 9.0 is very flaky and old. Its to teh point that I'm afraid to do something to the applications or OS. Thats where Server #3 comes in. I'm just trying to take the most careful approach with this one. Thanks.

It should work. The only gotcha if your running Backup Exec 9.1 SP4 then you will need to install HOTFIX 31 and SP1 for the 9.0..assuming its reve 4454.
Have you tried just backing up one file. If that work then there should be no problem
