I've found that Windows will not allow an upgrade from XP Home to XP Pro after Service Pack 2 has been installed. The XP pro CD I have has SP1. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this without having to do a fresh install? Is it possible to uninstall only SP2 then upgrade?

Thanks

You could try the trick I discussed a week ago in this thread: thread779-939670

What you would be doing is fooling the upgrade process about the acutal state of affairs for Service Packs.

I have about 1% confidence that this is a good idea, however.

To uninstall Service Pack 2:

Maybe if you slipstreamed SP2 into the Pro CD and then tried the upgrade.
