Hello those who know more than me,
I'm running an Intranet using IIS and windows 2000 pro. It's showing a limit of 10 connections. I just acquired windows 2000 server and would like to upgrade. When I ran setup on 2000 server it stated that setup can't upgrade to windows 2000 server from windows 2000 professional. Is there a way around that? I don't want to perform a clean install. Any help would be very appreciated.

Thanks,

A. Davis

I understand that you are interested just about your IIS configuration to be saved.
Just for this there is a tool named : iissync.
With IISynch you can have a copy of your current IIS config to another computer.
the trick could be something like:
you need 2 computers : A, B.
copy IIS config to another pc: A -> B
A - Install w2k server
From B initiate iisynch to A. Gia Betiu
giabetiu@chello.nl
Computer Eng. CNE 4, CNE 5, soon MCSE2k

Ok, i forgot to mention that if you are using iisynch method, you have to define again the IUSR and WUSR accounts.
like:
Cscript adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/WAMUserName domain\IWAM_uniquename

Cscript adsutil.vbs SET W3SVC/WAMUserPass "userpassword" Gia Betiu
giabetiu@chello.nl
Computer Eng. CNE 4, CNE 5, soon MCSE2k

Hello,
I'm interested in saving all of my programs and settings and still install 2000 server. There has to be a way.

Actually, there is not. Win2k server will not install over win2k pro. You can use a migration program like Eisenworld's $50 AlohaBob PC Relocator 3.0 and PCFirst's $50 PC2PC Doomhamur

Hello,
What about upgrading to 2000 advanced server, id that possible?

Thanks for any advice,

A.Davis

No.

You cannot upgrade a Windows 2000 Pro to any kind of server. They are completely different.

Ash.
