I've been a DW4 user, but I finally broke down and got DW MX upgrade, but haven't installed it yet. I'd like to know if all my DW4 files will convert without and troubles, and if they are converted, will I be able to uninstall MX and go back to DW4 if I want to without having to recreate my files?

I've seen some posts talking about tables issues between DW4 and MX, so I am very curious.

Templates don't cross over well- fine upgrading, but down grading dosen't seem to work.

Sometimes, when my code just won't behave, I take it outside and make it listen to britney spears music, and when it comes back it's really well behaved. I wonder if it's suffering from post tramatic stress syndrome now..

Back up your entire site to cd before upgrading. This way if you are not happy you can easily "downgrade".

I wouldn't be to worried though I had no real issues when upgrading.

Do I have to define my sites all over, or will MX recognize the DW4 settings?

Have a read of this faq for a utility to back up your definitions. We used it to transfer from ud4 to mx and also from Win2k to XP.

I must have lucked out! When I upgraded to MX, I copied my Extensions over to a desktop folder so I could reinstall them. I wasn't sure what would happen to them in the upgrade. I also took screenshots of my site window so I would remember my many many sites and of my Extensions Manager Window so I would remember all my great extensions.

I uninstalled Dreamweaver 4, installed MX, opened it up, and all my sites were there! I lost the Extensions so all I had to do was reinstall them from the desktop folder.
