Hi guys... This has just been dropped into my lap.. Whats the best way, ie the least painless, to upgrade and option 11 from rls 18 to rls 4.5?

Cheers

This is not too bad an upgrade, but you will have to replace some hardware (at my old job we did about 30 of them without issue, going from Rel 18 to 3.0). A new SSC card will be installed, replacing the CPU/CONF card. Also, you will need to move your DTR's and TTY 1 and 2 to Slot 0 (If you want to free up slot 1). The last piece is you will have to get your database off the old system and on to the new. There used to be an upgrade tool that the software cartridge connected to, then fit into the PCMCIA slot. These may be harder to find. I believe you can do it using a capture to a laptop, then re-installing the database, but I have never done one that way.

I also seem to remember if you have multiple cabinets it is recommended (possibly required) you go to fiber as opposed to the copper expansion cables, since the connectors/jumpers on the CPU/CONF card are no longer there.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.
