I have an Intel 440BX AGPset motherboard and I have been looking to upgrade my processor. I only have a PII 450, so anything would be better. I was looking at the intel chips and I cant figure out whats compatible with my motherboard and which is the best. Can you please give me the name and speed of the fastest processor i can handle.
Thank you.

As you have pointed out yourself you first need to establish what processors your motherboard will support.
You need to find the make and model and visit the manufactures website to check.
Some BX chipset boards go fairly high (around 1gig) and this chipset although getting on now is still pretty decent!
You will probably have to flash the bios to make the motherboard recognise the newer and faster processor, only do this if you feel confident to do so.
Some Slot 1 boards will take the newer socket processors (FCPGA?)with the addition of a riser board (just an option)
Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!
