Another office will be upgrading several Access databases and Excel spreadsheets from 97 to 2000. They all contain SQL and VB - what do I need to know about possible losses of code in the conversion?? Any specific code words that are no longer valid that I need to change before the conversion? Any help would be appreciated.

The only thing that I can think of off the top of my head is the DAO that you may have used in Access 97. When you convert the databases you may want to enable the DAO library reference. Other than that you should be okay.

There are some functions that you will have to change, off the top of my head TRIM() is a sample of one of the function. I would suggest that you convert the programs on you computer first to 2000 and run it. This will give you the chance to modify the programs and find all the bugs. Everytime I converted a program to 2000 there were numerous modifications. Wish you luck! :)

Certain code statements become ambiguous in A2K when converting from A97. This comes from A2K supporting both ADO and DAO. Dim as database, recordset, etc. are often problems.

My advice is to stay with A97 and avoid the buggy A2K if at all possible.
