We will be meeting with out vendor next week to discuss replacing our NAM with a CP-150 & a call center.

He also suggests that we upgrade our MICS from 5.0 to 7.0, in order to utilize the latest CP software release.

Because our need for a call center has gotten to the point where not having one is hurting our business, management is all for it. :)

I have several technical question that I would like to pose to the vendor during the meeting. One of them involves the benefits of upgrading to 7.0XC vs 7.0. If I have read correctly, the XC version in 7.0 now opens up more digital ports ("Companion" is no longer required).

We currently do not have the demand for the extra ports, but we are also exploring the benefits of adding MCk extenders.

Would we be better off purchasing the XC software at the time we actually need it, or would it be more cost effective to purchase it at the time of the upgrade?

Thanks

If you think you are ever going to add a 7th module, you will need the XC. Also, I have put in 2 of the Enhanced Call Center (it has to be Enhanced if you put 2 Callpilots, 1 for the voicemail and 1 for the call center) with lots of isses, but have worked them out.

On the issue of your proposed fiber extenders-

They work great, just make SURE that both your KSU, and the distant end sta mods / extenders are adequately protected by a battery backup. Occasionally, when power is interrupted on either end, the equip. doesn't sync up properly, and you've got to power cycle one side or the other to get those sets working again.

You'd think a company spending tens of thousands of dollars on their phone equipment would see the sense of spending a couple hundred to protect it. It's amazing how many won't.
