Hey all,
We're finally upgrading our Exchange server next week from 5.5 to Exchange 2000. While I don't have any problems right now, I've built a test lab to do a run through first, and I wanted to know what kinds of problems have been encountered during this upgrade. I've heard some fairly scary horror stories, so if I can eliminate any issues before we go live, I would much appreciate it. MCSE, A+

I don't run exchange, so I can't tell you about any problems. Just make sure you have a really GOOD backup, including the system state. Then delete a file and make sure the backup is good. (I've seen many problems where users see Backup Complete, but when they try and restore, it didn't work.) There's experts on exchange out there, I'm sure you'll hear from them. Good luck. Glen A. Have you already upgraded from NT 4 to Active Directory? If not, may I suggest planning that for one week and the actual exchange upgrade for another?

Anyway, if you're doing an in-place upgrade, here's the MS whitepaper:

I'd suggest being familiar with all parts of it before you start. Marc Creviere

Network setup currently (guess I should have included this) is 10 servers:
3 Windows 2000 DCs
1 Windows NT4 DC
Exchange 5.5 is running on a Win2K member server
About 200 users with exchange accounts.
Most clients on campus run WindowsXP, tho a web mail version is included for users from home. MCSE, A+
