Hi all,

I have managed to lay my hands on a Catalyst 2900 XL switch. Now I know very little about IOS although network topologies, etc, I am fine with. My questions;

- Is it possible to upgrade my Catalyst 2900 XL switch with
the latest IOS?
- Is there anything else I should take into consideration
before doing this? It's on a test network so it's not a big
problem if things to pear shaped.
- If this isn't possible, what's the latest version of the
software I can get fot this switch?

Thanks for your help.

you need to determine if the switch is a 8 meg version or an old 4 meg version. Do a show version and this will indicate how much it has . Do dir flash: and this will tell you what version is currently in flash . You will have to delete this before downloading the new version . After downloading you then need to change the boot statement . At config mode enter boot system flash:<new imagename> . Then do a write memory command . Then do a "show boot" command to verify it is pointing at the new image . If correct then you can reload after this . For images for the 2924 go to
