Has anyone attempted to upgrade from SMGR R8.x to SMGR R10.x using the latest data migration utility (datamigration-10.1.0.0.5-12.bin)? I have tried multiple times, the R10 SMGR appears to be happy but the Session Manager dashboard shows no connection for all Session Managers while showing the Session Manager replica group synchronized. I am on ESXi 6.7 and have tried deploying using both the SDM client and vCenter to no avail. I have verified checksum on all files and backup. My suspicion is the issue is with the new migration utility. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No. Try initTM -f on the SMs?
If you don't have many elements connected, maybe recreating the SMGR CA?

If you did SDM and got root, I'd run a tshark on SMGR for the SM mgmt IP and see if there's any TLS failures pointing to a certificate issue.

Did you use the SM data migration utility as well?

Are you sure DNS works? Your condition would happen if SMGR can't lookup the FQDN of the SM MGMT interface. Maybe if you're trying in a lab and the DNS isn't right, it could just be that.

There seems to be an issue on the latest Service Pack. We are currently testing on multiple instances in our lab. The only fix we have found so far is to run an initTM -f however a reboot of the Session Manager may bring the issue back. Only seems to be present on the latest service pack. We are stepping through the System Manager and Session Manager service packs to try and isolate exactly where it is happening. More to follow.

As a follow-up, the issue appears to be specific to the install of SSP2 on either the System Manager or Session Manager. Once SSP2 is loaded onto either, the link between SMGR and SM breaks requiring an initTM -f on the Session Manager to fix. We also have different end state conditions on different systems where one works fine after reboots and the other requires an initTM after every reboot to recover. SR opened with Avaya.

Kyle555 & jimbojimbo Thanks!! Our situation is a little different. We are experiencing it upon running the data migration utility with the 10.1.0.1-r1010114394.bin patch. Our SR has been escalated to T4.

Arlo555. Any chance you can post your SR number? I'm working with Avaya and trying to get them to see the "trend". I've been asked for SRs.
