Upgrade

I am currently running netbackup datacentre 4.5Ga on Solaris 8, both media and master on one machine.

Recently I encountered catalog backup error, which keeps showing error status 50. I found out that this had been corrected in MP2 patch and above.

I am thinking of upgrading the server to MP5, but hesistant to do so, due to

a. Will the MP5 patch affect any of the catalog?

b. I have 30 over clients to backup. If I just upgrade the master/media server, would that break anything on the clients and server communications.

c. What is the best way to upgrade the clients if I have no choice but to upgrade the clients.

Any help/comments would be appreciated.

MP5 is good, but NOT MP6. So your upgrade is fine. You can upgrade only the master if you wish - As long as all clients are at 4.5 or higher. Any client/media server must never be at a higher version than the master and clients must never be higher than the media server they backup to.

From there, you can upgrade the clients one at a time.
