Hi everyone,

I've been contemplating taking the plunge from Win 98SE to Win XP, but am curious as to what effects this may have on Premiere 6.5. I have seen from the archives people have run into issues using Premiere in XP. Not sure what version, but am curious if anyone has taken this route and can offer some comforting words to a wary Microsoft user. I use XP on other computers, so I am fairly familiar with it, I just want assurance that Premiere will continue to function properly.

My plan is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall fresh copies of everything. The file size limitation in 98SE is really getting to me.

Thanks up front for any feedback.

The best thing to do is just a CLEAN install of WinXp on a computer. I dont trust upgrading, unless you are on a FRESH install of Win98 (nothing else installed).

Since it appears that you are formatting the hard drive and doing a CLEAN install of XP, then I'd say you'll probably be OK. Premiere 7.0 was specifically designed for XP, so at least you would have an upgrade option if you had problems with 6.5, though you shouldn't need to.

If I was in your position, I would hesitate to change the OS to XP.
