Has anyone had experience with upgrading Supervisor II to Supervisor III modules on a 4006 switch.

The 4006 currently in use with the Sup II is showing 45% use (show proc).

Is it just a case of saving config file to a tftp server and then copying it back to the new Sup III ?

Do I have to configure certain things first on the new card before I can restore the saved config file to it ?

I have the luxury of having the Sup III installed in a spare 4006 chassis, test lab scenario, whilst Sup II still in live environment.

It should be relatively painless... you just need to load the IOS and then reload and save your configs. You can do that using TFTP or just a copy and paste from the console.

Are your sup 2s running IOS or Cat OS, if there running CatOS, you going to have to write all new config files, as the config's are different between OS's...

The Sup II is using CatOS, the new Sup III is running IOS. I guess there is no shortcut !
