I'm new to watchguard and have a question. can you flash and load a configuration from the firebox 1000 to the X1000?
if not posible what would be the best rout to configure the X1000?
1) Flash the existing, production Firebox with WFS 7.1SP1.
2) Using Tools>Advanced>Flash Disk Management, make a backup image of the Firebox II/III.
3) QSW the Firebox X so you can manage it offline. As an alternative to QSW, you might wish to simply boot it to SysB and then upload the config to it
4) Still connected to the Firebox X, run Tools>Advanced>Flash Disk Management, and run the “Restore Backup Image” operation.
After this completes, the X will reboot but will not arm. This is expected.
5) Power-cycle the Firebox X and put it into SysB, using the “up” arrow button.
6) Change your management station’s IP address to 192.168.253.2/24.
Verify connectivity to the Firebox X (on eth0) by pinging the default address, 192.168.253.1.
(NOTE: do not connect to the 192.168.253.1 address using Firebox System Manager)
7) Open Policy Manager, pull up the customer’s production configuration file, and save it to the Firebox X. Remember that the X is in SysB, so you’ll be connecting to 192.168.253.1 with a passphrase of wg. You’ll be saving a full flash image, so you’ll restore the customer’s passphrases at this stage.
8) Reboot the X offline and verify that it is running the right config.
9) Power off the Firebox X and replace the Firebox II/III with the X. All the traditional caveats of a hardware swap (arp considerations, specifically) apply here.
