Morning all,
Sorry to duplicate a post I have made in a SQL forum, but believe this is related to exchange / outlook......
Not sure if this is SQL Agent or Exchange 2003 / Outlook 2000 and it's a bizarre one but wondered if anyone has come across it.
We have a domain account running all SQL servces. We have Outlook installed and the profile set up for the domain account. All was working fine and has been for years, but the other day they migrated the mail from Exchange 5.5 to 2003. Since then it has been flaky with our alerts. We changed the outlook profile to point to the correct Exchange 2003 server, tested after restarting SQL agent and some servers were fine, some were saying mail sent but nothing arrived and some just didn't want to play (Login to MS Exchange server failed).
Strage part - take 1 server. Logging onto the machine as the domain account running SQL services, I open Outlook and it gets login failed message (Logon to the Microsoft Exchange Server computer failed). I open EM, test and it sends a test (and is still sening alert mails that are set up). Bear in mind opening outlook gives the error "Login failed), if i stop the SQL agent then outlook opens fine.
Take server 2. Same SQL SP (SP4) no difference and it just will not do anything. It will work for about 2 minutes if we kill off any MAPI23SP.exe processes, log off, log in, restart SQL Agent, then it gives up the ghost even with test emails where the other one worked.
Out Exchange guru says that the mailbox permissions are fine, and the Exchange alias account is correct (as there are no users in the Exchange part of the forest). Everyone else can use it fine, it just happens to be this 1 account. The mailbox has been deleted and recreated but it is still problematic.
Anyone come across this?
Thank in advance if anyone can get me out of this as i am positive it isn't SQL.
M.
