upgrade firmware to version 7 1

Hello-
i just got the lates firmware version (7) and would like to update my PIX 501, though the documentation states that the 501 and 506 are not supported. i'm wondering if anyone else has done it, despite the caveat.

no, the 501 is not supported.

The software at this point is probobaly hard coded to reject 501 installation.

the 501 also does not have the memory required to install the PIX OS v7

ok, thanks. I have 6.2 and want 6.3 to use the NAT transversal capability.

yes, 6.3(4) is the latest supported version for the 501 and 506e.

i just found out that a version 7 for the 501 and 506 will be released in a couple months.

correct, but a timetable is not absolutely set in stone, it has been rumored that it's coming very soon.
