upgrade 7.2 to 8.1

just a simple question :
does one of you knows some difficultes to upgrade a db2 version 7.2 to a 8.1
my question is more for the differences with the embedded sql code that make request to the db2 database.
do you also know if the linux client for version 7.2 is the same for the 8.1 version.

thanks for all the informations you can give me.
