Please correct me if I'm wrong. I have a tech going onsite to perform the 4.1 w/ nvram rls 1 to a 6.1 w/ nvram rls 2. After doing a backup. Shouldn't he just power down. Pull the rls 1 sleeve, replace with the rls 2 sleeve. Replace the 4.1 card and power up. This should restore the 4.1 on the rls 2 sleeve. Then power down again. Replace the 4.1 card with the 6.1 card and power up.
Also this switch has a PRI. Will he need to reload the Enabler codes after the final upgrade. And is there any way to get the codes out of the switch before the upgrade.
Thanks for any input

no ...you'll have to restore your programming or as someone else pointed out in a different thread, using an upgrade tool is advised.

generally, when you upgrade, the keycodes are intact. when you downgrade they are lost and probably the old keycodes may not work

DO NOT REPLACE THE READER OF THE SOFTWARE.. YOU WILL LOSE ALL KEYCODES.

with that in mind.. once you replace the reader, the system id will change. all you need to do is backup the system, power down system, unplug all cables, fiber connectors, except for port 101, insert PCMCIA (MICS 6.1 SW) power up, and wait for the unit to come back up. Once TIME AND DATE, a programming have been verified, replug module and cables back on.
