Upgrade 4.0 to 7.1? 1

What is involved? Do i need the upgrade tool or just the 7.1 card?

You will also need a R2 NVRAM cartridge if you don't have one now.

I have 4.1 with the nvram2 going to 6.1 is it just a power down and swap or do I have to short out the capacitor?

Just power down and swap the 4.1 for the 6.1. Once you're at 6.1 you can go directly to 7.1.
