Is there a quick way to update the GAL immediately, I have just rename an account with the mailbox enabled user and I try to see the user whether is under the GAL or not, it still didn't show up in the list. I will need this user to be online ASAP, Your help is appreciated.

Thanks, both of the symptoms are not applied to my case; I don't have the Cache turn on and don't have over 1000 GALs, I have also try to sync with my exchange server and I still don't see the name there.

Yes, if you manually update the recipient update service for the domain:

In System Manager:
Recipients > Recipient Update Services > Recipient Update Service (yourdomain) - right click and select 'Update Now'.

Ben.

my RUS points to my other Active Directory Domain controller, I believed it was pointed to the Old AD which was down for couple of days (I ran the Best Practice tools Anyalyzer and it said that it could not contact the Active directory server); but isn't the AD sync up with each other? do I have to change my RUS to point to my original AD? will I encounter any issues if I am going to change it?

System Manager > Recipients > Offline Address Lists > Default Offline Address Lists - right click and "rebuild".

Go to user then - Send/Receive down arrow and choose "Download Address Book".

My GAL only has about 120 contacts and I have tried the rebuild and it still no go; I can send the email to this recipient but when I click the property and I don't see the regular tabs like "General, Organization and so on"

all I see is the email properties.

no, the user mailbox is not hidden. The strange thing is "I can open the mailbox via OWA but not the desktop version outlook.

I think I'm losing sight of your original problem. Are you saying that after making changes to a mail-enabled user, they are not showing up on the GAL?

I have a disabled account with mail enalbed and I have renamed it to someone else's name, After renamed it and it didnt show up on the GAL.

I would either check to make sure that replication between your first DC and second DC is working properly, or just point RUS to your first DC. It could be that the changes you are making are not being replicated to the second DC, and becuase your RUS is connecting to it, it can't see thte changes you have made.

The name in the GAL is the AD Dispaly Name attribute. You said you renamed the account. Did you change the display name in ADUC as well?

Did you check the mailbox in Exchange System Manager to see if it is connected - or - does it have a red X?
And do you have non-delivery reports being delivered to your email account, so that it will inform you if the message you sent was not delievered?

Yes, I renamed it and change the Alias to the new name as well. I have went over all of the property tab of the user account. The mailbox is shown under the ESM\Server\Mailboxes\user's mailbox name, but I still can't see the user on the GAL. I don't have the error said that it is non delivered as well.

Did you try my second suggestion of looking at the actual mailbox on the exchange server?

You also stated:

You just don't have the Advanced Features checked under the view menu of ADUC(from exchange tools)

You also will not get a non delivery unless you configure exchange to send the non delivery to your mailbox. I know, a ton of questions - but just trying to help.

thanks, I have checked the mailbox and it didn't have red x and I can see the mailbox is there. I can access the mailbox via OWA but not desktop outlook.
