Hi everyone
I have epolicy 2.5 installed to deploy the TC and DAT's. I update my NT4-Servers every morning at 6am from a local mirror which will be updated at 5.30am. For most of the servers everything works fine. But for 3 servers I have the problem that after the Autoupdate the McShield-Service cannot be restarted and generates a Dr. Watson-Dialog. As soon as I confirm this dialog the service automatically is able to restart, but first I have to confirm Dr. Watson.
Perhaps it's the same problem I read about Netshield 4.5 which is solved with the SP1. Is there any SP1 for the TC??
McShield.exe is dated with 12 Oct 2000.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Renato

There are no updates or service packs for VirusScan TC as of now. As for the Dr.Watson errors, I suggest you look at the event logs to see the actual error messages and send the to McAfee tech support.

Specified External Domain Name Server was removed.

VirusScan TC v6.0 software will occasionally hang as it starts on Windows 95/98/NT/2K systems. In some cases, mobile systems will repeatedly try to dial into a network, or connect via ISDN or other methods, whenever VirusScan software starts or runs a scan task. In each of these cases, VirusScan software uses GetHostByName, a standard Windows function, to identify the IP address for machines to which it connects. The software does so in order to obtain information for event reporting that allows system administrators to track virus origins and related information. If VirusScan runs on a mobile system that cannot connect to a host network, or if network problems delay networked systems, VirusScan software must wait for the GetHostByName function to time out before it can continue.

Obtain and apply the HOTFIX "VSTC a". The HotFix replaces the file NLEVENT.DLL Release Date: 01/30/2001
